I think we have these cills in our Farmhouse, which dates from 1780! I’ve just been trying to work out what kind of stone it is as it is grey and seems too hard to be sandstone. The cills have the chiselled lines on the top surface but only one has the rusticated front – the others are left plain. The bottom surface is unfinished just like the ones in the picture
